My name is Suzanne Lanker. I am a midwife, wife, mother and grandmother.
I worked as a midwife in the Engeriedspital (at that time there was still a maternity ward) in Bern and in the Bürgerspital in Solothurn. Since 2017 I have been working as a freelance midwife in Bern and the surrounding area.
In 2019, I helped to set up a health centre in Cameroon for three months. That was an extremely challenging and intense time. There I experienced a brutality in obstetrics that I could not have imagined in my worst dreams. My most important goal was to introduce obstetrics worthy of women and children in the new health centre.
I did not always work as a midwife, I was also a relief organisation representative at the Hecks, worked in the Contact Netz with people with addiction problems, in the Bern Visiting Service with people with mental impairments and in the Belp Residential Home with old elderly people and people with mental impairments.
I am a very optimistic woman and try to act and think as solution-oriented as possible. Every family's path is different, I want you to find and walk your own path. For this you need information and tools. That is what I want to give you.
